MONOLOGUE PRESENTS DELCOURT COLLECTION

Christophe Delcourt was just thirty years old when he made his first objects and showcased them at the Maison & Objet fair in Paris. It was 1996, with a humbly sized space, and yet the success was immediate. Just three years later, the same fair named him designer of the year when Delcourt presented his first pieces of furniture: a table, a coffee table and an armchair.

Being up until this point largely self taught, Christophe Delcourt had a pivotal encounter with two brothers—one a carpenter, and the other an ironworker. With these two craftsmen, along with his own instinctive taste and intuition, Christophe would learn to understand the properties of the materials and finishes of his future trade, and thus build a taste for excellence. As a result, Delcourt Collection was founded on this perfect equation between the most refined craftsmanship and a singular, timeless creative universe that is shaped by the accuracy of lines.

Today, the catalogue includes several hundred original styles: sofas, tables, seats, sideboards, consoles to name a few. Whilst woodworking is at the design forefront, Christophe’s various creative fields of expression and experimentation extend to that of bronze, lava stone, glass, marble, ceramics and upholstery. Regardless of medium however, each piece of furniture tells the story of the material—the hand that shapes, models and sculpts. These characteristics make Delcourt collection unique within the French furniture landscape.
